Ghost Writing

The utilization of medical writers in the authorship of clinical evidence and studies has recently become a hot button topic throughout the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. Todd Parker, PhD, CMPP, Scientific Director, MedThink SciCom, will participate in a panel discussion, "The Medical Writer Debate: Acceptable Use vs. Ghost Writing," along with representatives from Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline, Elsevier and Shire Pharmaceuticals. Todd and the panel will share personal insights on the issue as well as best practices for engaging medical writers to convey biomedical research.

As Scientific Director at MedThink SciCom, Todd develops and implements communications strategies for preclinical and clinical data through publication planning, scientific communication platforms, lexicon workshops, advisory board development and other initiatives. Composed of a team of professionals with academic, research and publication management backgrounds, MedThink SciCom is a medical communications agency focused on the scientific exchange of biomedical research. Todd holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology, with an emphasis on immunology, from Mississippi State University. He began his career as a research scientist at GeneBact Biotechnologies in Athens, Ohio, and continued his career as a scientist at Ohio University, where he studied protein signaling pathways in murine tumors to elucidate their role in cancer growth and metastasis. Todd joined MedThink in 2009.
